A picturesque community on the north side of Lake Aegeri in Kanton Zug. Aegerital is the eastern-most part of Kanton Zug. The lake, Aegerisee, is at an altitude of 724m above sea level, some 300m higher than the main lake of the canton, Lake Zug. On the south side of Aegerital are forests that rise up to Wildspitz, the highest point in the canton, from which there are spectacular views towards the Mythen mountain peaks in Kanon Schwyz and on to the Swiss Alps.To the East is Morgarten, famous for the battle in November 1315 when men from Schwyz, Uri and Unterwalden ambushed a Habsburg army under the command of Duke Leopold I - an event that is recognized as part of the creation of the Swiss Confederation.
